Dr Crea is a simulation consultant and researcher focussed on human dimensions. Her research is applied and her expertise lies in information processing, narrative sense-making, and situation awareness in simulated and immersive environments. She is member of the International Advisory Panel of the Asia Pacific Simulation Alliance and Chair of the Human Dimensions Division of Simulation Australasia, and was convenor of the 2014 & 2015 SIMTECT Conferences. With these appointments she has gained broad multidisciplinary knowledge of simulation uses across industry domains and a wide network of simulation industry contacts. Pursing her interests in digital technologies Dr Crea initiated a PhD at the University of Technology Sydney under the auspices of Creative Industries and the Health Communication Centre. This led her to work in the field of serious games and simulation, initially through a range of workshops in the defence sector on human factor and narrative integration and eventually with the Simulation Unit at the department of Anaesthesia, Royal Adelaide Hospital. Her interdisciplinary doctoral investigation into live simulation and immersive environments has seen her specialise in information processing and narrative design in these contexts from a neuro-scientific perspective. Crea's doctoral thesis was awarded the 2014 UTS Chancellor's Award for exceptional scholarly achievement.
