As Managing Director of Oztron for over ten years I have worked on a range of projects incorporating simulation technologies for universities and corporations around the world. One example of this is Pharmatopia. Pharmatopia is a series of pharmaceutical science related virtual training environments administered by Monash University. Pharmatopia's principle objective is to create a continuum of engaging problem-based, pharmacy learning/training modules, relevant to schools, universities and industry. It is based on a shared-practice model. Participating educators develop a learning module to meet a particular learning/training need. The virtual modules are freely accessible to schools and universities and on a cost recovery basis to industry. Ten universities worldwide participate in the Pharmatopia project worldwide, as well as two pharmaceutical companies, CSL and GSK. Topics covered include biotechnology, compound dispensing and drug testing and manufacturing. The virtual modules are available in English, Chinese and Spanish.
