I aim to make technology useful to people in new ways, and to understand how technology is changing people and society. I've worked with people in education, industry and the community sector on technologies including serious games and simulations, the Internet, technologies for disadvantage, mobiles and VR/AR. My focus is on applied work that makes a practical difference to people's lives. Along the way these activities have generated four national awards, nine university awards, four fellowships, $5 million in research and project grants, over 40 peer-reviewed publications and one edited book. Along the way I've created, run and researched projects in the community and disability sectors, industry, schools, VET and Higher Ed; managed people; found funding; taught; and undertaken qualitative and mixed-method research.
